With Christmas just around the corner some of us have already got our Christmas trees up and decorated, but if you’re still looking for the perfect tree there are plenty of options for you and we recommend looking at artificial Christmas trees.
Choosing Artificial
If you’ve decided to go with an artificial Christmas tree this year, there are plenty of benefits to enjoy. You won’t have to deal with dropped needles that need cleaning up after the holidays, nor will you need to spend time trimming the trunk to fit in your stand. Plus, an artificial tree can last for many years, making it a highly cost-effective choice. However, some people may still wonder if an artificial Christmas tree can look realistic or capture that festive feel.
As experts in artificial Christmas trees, we know that recent advancements in tree technology have led to incredibly lifelike artificial trees. We also have tips on how to style your tree to achieve a realistic and impressive look—all without the hassle of falling needles or trimming the trunk.
Ensuring It’s Realistic
Artificial Christmas trees are typically made from two main materials: PVC and PE needles. PVC branches have soft needles that are easy to shape, making them ideal for hanging decorations. However, PVC is a more affordable material and tends to have a rough, spiky texture that doesn’t look particularly realistic. On the other hand, PE needles are crafted to closely resemble real tree branches. PE branches not only look and feel more natural, but they also enhance the overall realism of the tree. Advances in branch technology have made these PE branches even more lifelike, as they are created from molds of actual tree branches.
For a more realistic tree, we recommend choosing one made from a mix of PE and PVC materials. While it’s rare to find an artificial Christmas tree that is entirely made of PE branches due to the high production costs, a PE/PVC mixed tree offers a highly realistic appearance while remaining easy to shape and decorate.
If you’re considering a PE/PVC mixed tree, we also suggest looking for trees with ‘bottle-brush’ branches. These firmer, bottle-brush-shaped branches provide a fuller and more realistic look compared to standard soft PVC branches.
When seeking a fuller and more authentic tree, we also advise paying attention to the tip count. For example, two 7ft trees may differ significantly in the number of branch tips—one may have only 600 tips, while another may have 2500. A higher tip count results in a fuller, more realistic tree and provides more space for decorations.
More Tips!
If you’re concerned about missing the natural scent of a real Christmas tree, there are fantastic ‘tree scent’ decorations available that you can add to your artificial tree, allowing you to enjoy that classic Christmas aroma.
Choosing an artificial Christmas tree is entirely a matter of personal preference, but we believe there are some incredibly realistic options that can enhance any room. In fact, many artificial trees can look even more lifelike than a real one, without the worry of needles falling off before Christmas Day, leaving you with a sparse-looking tree.
